Arun Gupto, PhD

Arun Kumar Gupta is a Reader in the Department of English at the Tribhuvan University. He also writes weekly columns under the pen name Arun Gupto. He is Academic Director at the Institute of Advanced Communication, Education and Research at M. A. and M. Phil. (English) programs at the Pokhara University. Dr. Gupto did his Ph. D. from the Tribhuvan University in 1998. He obtained an M.A. (Engl. Lit.) from Drew University, NJ., USA, in 1994 and M.A. (Engl. Lit) at Tribhuvan University in 1984. He holds a Post-Grad Diploma (French) from the University of Calcutta in India (1980).

Dr. Gupto has a number of publications to his credit. These include: Critical and Creative Thinking. Dr. Gupto’s research project includes a documentary film Art of the Lake (2007 – ). Dr. Gupto’s interest in interdisciplinary studies encompasses media and communications. His doctoral research related with the theories of communication and arts. He has taught media studies, cultural studies and human communication courses at Tribhuvan University and Pokhara University. He has remained engaged with various pedagogic orientation programs and syllabi design for interdisciplinary courses. His art documentary project is cross disciplinary in nature ranging from environmental, feminist to humanistic discourses.

Dr. Gupto speaks fluent English, Nepali, Bengali, Hindi, Awadhi and has working knowledge of Urdu and French.
