Dr Braz stresses media role in understanding music

Dr Michael Braz, an internationally-known music educator, composer, and clinician from the US, visited Media Foundation (MF) today. Later in the evening, in a program organized by MF, he spoke before a group of invited journalists, educators, and members of the public on the theme “The Power of Music”.

In his speech, Dr Braz  stressed the important role of media in public understanding of music. He enthralled the audience with his flute; playing various musical tunes, including the popular Nepali Resham-Firiri.

Dr Braz also noted the effects of internet/new media on music production/consumption in contemporary times.

Dr Braz enjoys trekking in the Himalayas and has visited Nepal frequently. He is a Professor Emeritus of Music at Georgia Southern University and a 24-year faculty member.
